Beautiful vintage Studio 4 ceramic vase from Italy, featuring a rounded sculptural form in warm earthy brown tones with a textured surface. The upper section is decorated with striking gold-glazed horizontal bands, creating a rich contrast with the rustic brown body. A very elegant example of mid-century Italian pottery with the unmistakable decorative character associated with Bitossi production.
The vase has a wonderfully tactile surface and a strong 1970s modernist look. The underside is covered with an older protective felt ring, so any original factory markings are not visible.
Studio 4 a company founded in 1972 by Lelio Rossi and 3 other former Bitossi employees: Gianfranco Bardotti, Giuseppe Cioni and Goffredo Allegranti. They were known to copy Bitossi decors. The factory was situated in Capraia, just outside Montelupo.
