Vintage Rare RICHARD UHLEMEYER Craquelé Planter / Cachepot (German Studio Art Pottery) 1940-50

This is a beautiful and unique piece of mid-century Studio Art Pottery from Germany, produced in the 1940s / 1950s. This ceramic planter (cachepot) was crafted by the renowned Richard Uhlemeyer , celebrated for its artistic and experimental glaze techniques.

The vessel's form is simple, serving as a perfect canvas for the masterful glaze work. The body is completely enveloped in a stunning, thick, glossy white craquelé (crackle) glaze, characterized by a dense network of fissures that provide deep, sophisticated texture. This elegant white base is beautifully accented along the upper rim by vibrant, artistic drips and flow patterns in contrasting brown and rose-pink glazes.

Richard Uhlemeyer (1900-1954) was a highly influential German ceramic artist who established his own studio near Hanover. His work focused on unique, hand-thrown forms and highly experimental glazes, moving beyond industrial mass production. Pieces from the Uhlemeyer studio are sought-after by collectors of European studio art ceramics due to their rarity and artistic quality.

Condition: This planter is in excellent condition and still bears the original Uhlemeyer's sticker on the bottom.
