This beautiful glass karaf (decanter) is a stunning example of mid-century art glass. It was handmade by Mdina Glass, the first studio glass maker in Malta. The piece is known for its unique, organic design and vibrant colors.
The karaf has a textured surface with a clear blue body. It features striking yellow and white stripes, or trails, running down its sides. The glass has an organic, free-form shape, often with a slightly flattened body and a narrow neck.
Mdina Glass was established in 1968 by Michael Harris, a glass blower from the UK. Harris was inspired by the colors of the sea and sand of Malta. The studio is famous for its heavy, colorful pieces and techniques that mimic ocean waves.
