Striking vintage Jopeko Keramik vase, model 402-21, made in West Germany during the 1970s. The rounded handled form combines a glossy reddish-orange glaze with a thick, highly textured cream, brown and dark Fat Lava glaze covering much of the body and rim.
Jopeko was one of the smaller West German ceramic manufacturers associated with the experimental Fat Lava movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Its ceramics are particularly known for strong sculptural forms and dramatic contrasts between smooth and heavily textured glazes.
