A superb and highly collectible planter from Dümler & Breiden Keramik, a renowned name in West German pottery. This piece, dating to the 1970s, features a dynamic "Fat Lava" glaze and a compelling modern form.

The planter has a classic, cylindrical shape that provides a perfect canvas for its bold and sculptural glaze. The lower section is covered in a smooth, matte black glaze, which serves as a striking backdrop for the thin "fat lava" glaze. This upper layer, in vibrant green, creates a volcanic, tactile surface that is a definitive hallmark of the period.

Founded in 1883 by Peter Dümler and Albert Breiden, the company was a long-standing producer in the Westerwald region of West Germany.
