This small ceramic vase is an excellent example of mid-century West German Pottery. It was made by Bay Keramik, one of the most famous manufacturers of the era. The piece features the classic 'Fat Lava' glaze, which collectors highly value.
The top of the vase is a bright, glossy orange glaze with a dark blue rim. Below the blue line is a rough, textured white and brown 'lava' glaze. The lower foot is finished with the same deep blue glaze seen on the middle band.
Bay Keramik was founded in 1933 by Eduard Bay in Ransbach-Baumbach, Germany. They were well-known for their innovative glazes and textured surfaces. The best-known designer for the company was Bodo Mans, who created many popular series.
This vase with form number 66/14 is in excellent condition.
