This exquisite vintage Murano glass vase is a superb example of the Sommerso technique, created in the style of Flavio Poli for Alessandro Mandruzzatto during the 1960s - 1970s.
The vase is defined by its strong geometric form with sharply angled sides. It utilizes the Sommerso (submerged) technique, where layers of contrasting colored glass are encased in thick, clear crystal. This piece showcases a stunning internal layering of vibrant red and subtle yellow glass, giving the piece incredible depth and refracting light beautifully through its polished facets.
Mandruzzatto's factory specialized in these heavier, faceted sculptural forms during the 1960s, perfecting the clean lines and submerged color blocks that defined this Mid-Century Murano trend.
Condition: Overall good vintage condition, minimal surface scratches, and one tiny chip on an edge (see third picture)
