Beautiful and collectible pair of clear textured glass goblets designed by Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala, Finland.
These striking glasses belong to the "Senaattori"series, also known as the Juhlalasi / Festivo family and feature the characteristic rough, ice-like surface and sculptural stems with 2 projecting rings, closely related to Sarpaneva’s famous Festivo candleholders.
The Juhlalasi drinking glasses were produced in relatively small numbers and are much harder to find than the candlesticks.
A wonderful example of Finnish Scandinavian glass design, combining a heavy architectural form with the appearance of frozen or melting ice. Sold as a matching set of two.
