This substantial vintage art glass vase was expertly crafted on the island of Murano, Italy, likely by the studio of Alessandro Mandruzzato. It is a fine example of the famous Sommerso technique.
The vase features a thick, geometric shape, achieved by carefully submerging layers of different colored glass.
Alessandro Mandruzzato and his family studio are celebrated for pioneering the heavy, geometric Sommerso technique from the 1950s onward. His work defines the Mid-Century Modern Italian art glass movement and is highly sought after today.
This stunning, very heavy ( almost 5 kilogram ! ) vase is in good vintage condition.
