Impressive XXL vintage Scheurich Keramik floor vase, model 281-54, made in West Germany in the early 1970s. It features the famous Montignac decor, inspired by prehistoric cave paintings from Lascaux in France, with hand-painted stylized bulls and other animals in brown, ochre and blue against a cream background.
The large rectangular form is finished with heavily textured Fat Lava glaze, creating a wonderful contrast with the colorful animal scenes on both sides. Produced only around 1972–1973, Montignac is one of Scheurich's most distinctive designs and this huge 54 cm version makes a spectacular statement piece in a Mid-Century Modern or Brutalist interior.
