Striking vintage ceramic vase V621 by German artist Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker, created in his studio in Ulm during the 1960s. The sculptural asymmetric form features a distinctive pierced opening and a rich textured glaze in earthy brown, bronze and subtle green tones, with the original Schäffenacker gold label still present.
A wonderful example of German Mid-Century studio pottery, somewhere between a functional vase and an abstract ceramic sculpture. The organic shape, rough surface and deep earthy colors give it a strong Brutalist character and make it especially attractive displayed as a standalone art object.
