Vintage Studio Art Pottery Vase by WULF-JOCHEN BURMEISTER, West Germany 1970's

This is a vintage studio pottery cup by the German ceramicist Wulf-Jochen Burmeister (born 1942 in Neumünster).
The cup showcases a distinctive design with a rounded body, a slightly flared rim, and a small, pedestal-like foot. It is finished with a visually striking glaze that transitions from a textured, mottled grey and brown at the top to a rich, dark brown and lighter brown on the lower portion. The glaze exhibits variations in tone and texture, adding to the unique character of the piece.

A wonderful example of mid-century German studio pottery, this cup would make a fine addition to any collection.

About Wulf-Jochen Burmeister:
Burmeister studied at the Muthesius Werkkunstschule in Kiel from 1960 to 1962 and subsequently completed a pottery apprenticeship in Sörup. From 1966 to 1968, he was a master student of Hubert Griemert at the Werkschule für Keramik in Höhr-Grenzhausen.

Burmeister established his first workshop in Kiel-Neumühlen in 1969, relocating it to Dobersdorf near Kiel in 1975. This particular piece features a press mark that was used from 1974 onwards, dating it to that period or later.
