The body is finished in a smooth, deep blue glaze that provides a cool, sophisticated backdrop for the textured Fat Lava application. A band of fat lava glaze in black and white encircles the vase, creating an incredible textural and visual contrast that is the hallmark of the Fat Lava style.
Scheurich Keramik, established in 1928 and based in Kleinheubach, became the most successful and prolific producer of decorative ceramics in post-war West Germany.
