This spectacular vintage glass bowl was designed by the acclaimed Finnish artist Tauno Wirkkala for Humppila. It is a stunning example of Scandinavian glass art.
The bowl features a heavy, asymmetrical form achieved through the demanding blown glass technique, giving it a tactile "melted ice" appearance. Its thick, textured sides capture and refract light beautifully, evoking the mystery of the Northern Lights.
Tauno Wirkkala, the younger brother of Tapio Wirkkala, designed the iconic Revontulet series for Humppila in the 1960s. Humppila Glassworks (founded 1952) is renowned for producing high-quality, nature-inspired art glass.
