This bold vintage ceramic planter or flower pot is a vibrant example of West German Pottery (WGP) from the 1970s, produced by ES Keramik (Emons & Söhne). It features an exciting combination of colors and the classic, highly textural Fat Lava glaze.
The planter has a sturdy, cylindrical form, ideal for housing houseplants or simply serving as a decorative item. It is finished in a striking combination of red and blue glazes, with sections featuring the thick, porous texture of the Fat Lava style.
ES Keramik (Emons & Söhne) was an important, though medium-sized, participant in the West German Pottery scene, active particularly during the height of the Fat Lava movement. Like many of their contemporaries, ES Keramik embraced the trend for bold forms and volcanic glazes.
Condition: Overall good vintage condition, no cracks, no chips. The planter has some unglazed spots on the bottom rim, see third picture for more information.
