This ceramic vase is a great example of classic West German Pottery from the mid-century era. It was made by Dumler and Breiden, a well-known factory in Höhr-Grenzhausen. The piece features a striking, textured glaze in the popular 'Fat Lava' style.
The vase is covered in rich, warm brown and glossy black glazes. The surface has a rough, bubbly texture, typical of the 'Fat Lava' effect. The shape is a classic, slightly flared cylinder that lets the glaze stand out.
Dumler and Breiden was founded in 1883 by Peter Dümler and Albert Breiden. Key designers were Ernst Dümler, Paul Zimmerling, and Rudolf Christmann.
