This ceramic jug-vase is a wonderful piece of Mid-Century West German Pottery. It was made by Carstens Tönnieshof, one of the oldest and largest manufacturers in the country. This piece is part of the popular Keltoi Reliefserie, meaning "Celtic Relief".
The vase is covered in rich, glossy glazes of blue, turquoise, and black. It has an embossed zig-zag pattern around the body, which is highlighted with yellow-brown glaze.
Carstens Tönnieshof was founded in 1947 by Ernst Carstens. The firm was known for innovative and colorful designs, often by designer Gerda Heuckeroth. The Keltoi range was first produced around 1968 and became one of their most successful designs.
The vase is in excellent condition.
