Striking and sculptural, this vintage Carstens Keramik vase is part of the sought-after “Luxus” series, produced in West Germany during the late 1960's and the 1970s.
This bold and beautifully crafted Carstens vase showcases the iconic artistry of West German pottery, featuring a vivid matte red body adorned with a striking black relief glaze. The textured, raised pattern creates a sculptural effect that plays with light and shadow, adding depth and character to the piece. A standout addition to any modernist or vintage ceramic collection.
Though the exact designer is not confirmed, this piece is often attributed to either Gerda Heuckeroth or Dieter Peter, both of whom created influential forms and finishes for Carstens during the period.
Decor is most likely called "Basalt" or "Koralle" , but not confirmed.
