The classical vase has a classic, rounded form with a narrow neck that beautifully showcases its remarkable glaze: the distinctive and highly collectible "Ankara" decor.
It is covered in a deep, glossy cobalt blue glaze, over which a raised, abstract "Ankara" decor is applied in a darker gray shade. This striking contrast in color gives the vase a unique and compelling artistic character.

Founded in 1945 by Christian Carstens, Carstens Tönnieshof quickly grew to become one of the largest ceramic factories in West Germany. The company was celebrated for its wide array of innovative forms and highly decorative glazes, from classic designs to the avant-garde styles of the mid-20th century.

The "Ankara" decor, designed by Helmut Scholtis is one of its most recognizable and sought-after designs.
