Striking vintage Carstens Tönnieshof vase, model C843/23, from the Ceylon series, designed by Gerda Heuckeroth in 1966. The tall rectangular form features an expressive brown, beige and cream glaze with broad horizontal brush-like bands.
The Ceylon series is one of Heuckeroth’s distinctive designs for Carstens, combining architectural ceramic forms with abstract, painterly decoration. Its restrained earthy palette gives this vase a particularly strong Modernist character.
This vase is in excellent vintage condition.
