Striking vintage Belgian ceramic door handle, dating from the 1960s–1970s.

Ceramic and enamel door handles were a typically Belgian design phenomenon, created in a wide variety of colorful and artistic designs for both modern homes and architectural interiors.

These handles combined functional design with decorative art, often using intense glazes that contained lead and cadmium, resulting in exceptionally vivid colors that are difficult to reproduce today. This example has a bold abstract red, black and white design and comes with its original metal mounting construction.

Made from robust aluminum and vibrant ceramic, ensuring a luxurious look and long lifespan.

These original ceramic door handles were primarily manufactured in Belgium by prominent ceramists and studios, including names such as Oswald Tierberghien, Achiel Pauwels, and the artists of Perignem and Amphora. Based on the distinct color scheme, this specific door handle is most likely attributable to Elisabeth Vandeweghe ( Perignem).

This handle is in perfect used condition, no damages and includes original metal mounting construction.
