Rare Vintage ZELEZNY BROD SKLO (ZBS) Lilac /Blue Neodymium Glass Vase from the Czechoslowakia.
Designed by Czech art glass designer Vaclav Horacek in 1957 for Josefodol Glassworks, later restructured in Zelezny Brod glass factory.
This well shaped vase comes with an etched-like pattern and has the ability of changing the color.
The color-changing ability comes from Neodymium, a chemical element that is incorporated into the glass during manufacture. In daylight, the Neodymium in the glass presents as a pale lilac color, but within household fluorescent lamps the element turns light blue. Neodymium glass is also sometimes referred to as Alexandrite glass.
