This is a beautiful and rare vintage owl figurine from the 1960s, a unique piece of Austrian Studio Art Pottery. It was designed by the renowned artist Gudrun Baudisch for her studio in Hallstatt, Austria.
The owl features a minimalist, chunky form with a deeply textured surface that gives it a brutalist or organic feel. It is finished in a striking metallic golden/bronze glaze, often with intentional verdigris or mottled green accents, creating a rich, aged patina. This highly sought-after piece is marked on the base.
Gudrun Baudisch (1907–1982) was a highly influential Austrian ceramicist. She worked in Vienna and later established her own workshop in Hallstatt in 1947. Her work is celebrated for its distinctive, experimental glazes and expressive, slightly stylized animal forms.
