This is an exceptional and highly sculptural piece of Vintage Brutalist Wall Lighting, likely originating from a studio pottery or small ceramic manufacturer in the Netherlands or Belgium during the 1960s or 1970s. This item functions as both an architectural feature and a unique light source.
The sconce is crafted from heavy, rough Chamotte Clay (or coarse stoneware) and features a dramatic, three-dimensional geometric design. The surface is hand-modeled to create flowing, organic curves and sharp, chiseled edges, embodying the raw, powerful aesthetic of the Brutalist movement. It is finished in a beautiful, naturalistic gradient of Matte Beige in the center, fading out to a darker Brown or bronze tone at the edges.
The base is integrated with one light socket. This is currently fitted with stylish Gold/Chrome Cap Bulb. The mirrored finish of this bulb reflects the texture of the clay, which highlights the sculptural quality and provides a beautiful, indirect, atmospheric glow. This is a unique statement piece that is perfect for a Mid-Century Modern, Industrial, or Brutalist interior.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. No cracks, hairlines or other damages. The wiring appears complete, but as with all vintage lighting, professional inspection is recommended before use.
