Art Deco FONS DECKER Orange and Black Mottled Vase for Gouda Holland FO215 Dutch Pottery 1930s

This rare and stunning vase, designed by Fons Decker for Gouda Holland in the 1930s, is a prime example of Art Deco style. The vase features a unique, organic shape with a vibrant orange glaze and a contrasting black mottled pattern.
The distinctive handle adds to the vase's Art Deco aesthetic.
Fons Decker was born as Hubert Alphonse (nickname Fons) Decker, born in 1878 in Maastricht. He was one of the first eighteen registered employees whom Egbert Estié recruited from other pottery factories to found his new pottery factory 'Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland' (P.Z.H.).

The Fons Decker models were signed with 'FO' followed by the model number. In the ceramics world they are now known as Fonsos.
No two Fonsos are identical, both in terms of model and glaze.
The originally straight top edge was rolled over to curve outwards. Everything was allowed and everything was possible. The ears, necks and mouths of vases and jugs were erratically deformed. Fons Decker consciously placed rhythmic bulges or dents on the skin. A number of specific interventions are characteristic of his visual language: he extends the ears and handles into a snake shape in high relief.

This stunning 'FONSO' is a real treasure, collector's item and in excellent condition.
